The Sense of Suffering
By jean_claud_ostwald, 00:42

Have you ever suffered? Do you know what pain is like? Do you know both physical and spiritual pain?

Those are issues, which all of us know. It's completely impossible for an individual not to suffer, even if we talk about the US president or a {B}Hollyowood celebrity. Because our world functions between two poles - the evil and the good and in order to understand both and what valuable is, our life moving between those two margins. Of course some of us incline to the one extreme, respectively to the other one; there're even those who balance.

But what about if amiable, innocent people suffer?

The sense of suffering is sometimes misunderstood and hard to explain. Yes, even good people could suffer and feel pain and there is one reason for this. God wants us to realise during our lives that we are born sinners and we should ask him to be merciful with us, the sinners. That's a key issue in the personal development of each Christian, although it is not always welcome in the Western culture. The opponents of that idea wonder

How come a little baby could be a sinner?

I admit that this question is different to be answered for mere me, to a certain extend. I also would welcome your comments on this but in my opinion, a baby is no sinner. It becomes later in life while mixing in the society and realising it's corporeal besides spiritual. Unfortunately, we cannot survive without a considerable care of our bodies and we need to satisfy our necessity of clothes, food and most formidably spectacles. Please note that the extend is different with any of us. That is why a suffering should be seen from at least two different aspects: it could be a kind

of a punishment for our sins on Earth but also an exam, organised by God to check our faith

Because religiously, even Jesus Chris has suffered without having any fault. He was crossed because of people's sins and soon after that he resurrected. All this means that our life is a sequence of good and bad moments and this has its own sense. On Earth, we could suffer or be happy,

but after our death the suffering or the happiness will be eternal and everlasting.

Letting us suffer, God wants us to take account that we think of our life, what we cause other people, if we could be better and believe in Him and in the surrender, whether we are able to start a new life or forgive sins, help the weak people. He says that only

a person who knows what is like to suffer is able to appreciate real values in life

In the meantime, this does not automatically mean that we should get reconciled with evil in our life - in opposite, we should try to avoid it and keep others away from it. We should try to lead a more spiritual life and help the weak and helpless individuals. Be aware that even the most important commissioners in this world, are commissioned by The most Powerful. The power of the highest politician is nothing in front of God's abilities. Only in that way, our good acts would have more weight while being judged by God.

Amen!

Friends,

I tried to analyze that problem from a religious point of view and my own. Because I am a Christian, I used that religion which is also my own. This, however, does not exclude the possibility for other faiths to share their thoughts, comments, etc.

Mathematics with Angela
By jean_claud_ostwald, 00:01

I hope you know who Angela Merker is. She has just turned back from a visit to Africa where she went to a school in Kongo. She learnt mathematics together as a regular student.

A Good PR

This is a very good PR strategy, as we know that there are many racial outbursts in Germany. Although the unemployment is still very high there even among local people, foreigners are treated in a different, discriminative way. For instance, there is a law, issued by the so-called Bundestag (National Parliament) that favours employees of German origin ahead of foreigners. If a German and a foreigner apply for the same position at the same time,  the employer is obliged to hire the German. Germany still discriminates EU nationals of ten Eastern and Central European countries, willing to reside and work there. They are still being treated like nationals from third countries. The negative attitude towards them is even encouraged by the most popular media in that country - they're being mocked, insulted, stereotyped, etc.
However,

it has not sopped the mass influx of people to that country.

Angela has even come to the conclusion that those citizens are useful for the state and could solve the great demographic problem. The average of the German population is continuously rising, that's why more young people are needed. Young families have usually no more than 1, almost 2 children.

Bearing in mind those process in the modern German society, in future we'll have a different Germany with less influence on the international scene. As a matter of fact, it's still being the leading European economy, mainly in the export and industry but last tenancies show that its economy is deteriorating. The number of unemployed is still high, national debts are rising, prices are getting more expensive. The public order in the major towns was lately violated by mass strikes, orginised by Deutsche Bahn.
Let's turn back to Angela Merkel. The cartoon above , which I have kindly borrowed by Side Effects, show that there is no major difference between Merkel's and former federal chancelor Gerhard Schroeder's policy. Both have used unpopular measures in terms of social policy. The tendency is that people will get less money from the state and meanwhile business projects and growth will be encouraged.

Still it has not caused a great success

but there is one thing that Merkel should realise. It's her last chance to do something for country and its development. She is a brilliant speaker. Everyone could see her weekly podcasts on that website but actions and reforms are what Germany currently needs. Otherwise, we will forget about a Germany as a leading global economic and political power despite the interesting visits of Angela to third-world-countries.

Interesting to know:

There is a video of the German national anthem in Turkish:

Bulgaria's Abandoned Children ... soon on BBC2
By jean_claud_ostwald, 21:18

Soon, all the Britons will have the chance to watch a film on the Bulgarian orphanages. The ambitious director Kate Blewett has visited a social home for disabled children. Most of them suffer from incurable diseases and disabilities. Certainly, that film breaks hearts and those innocent kids do not deserve such a destiny.

What is the goal of that journalist with her film?

This is the question I asked for many times during the film. Undoubtedly, the Bulgarian state has to do a lot for them and modernize those homes. Undoubtedly, those kids should be integrated into society and not isolated in the province. Of course, more is needed.

Meanwhile, I think that there are certain standards to be covered not only in the social system. Journalists should also aim at some morale and ethics. While watching, I heard Kate Blewett ask herself ten times  for thirty minutes why Bulgaria is in the EU, a country of contrasts, misery, etc. All her conclusions humiliated the country and the viewer thinks that its her primary goal, as if she does not care of those children.Unfortunately, those children are being born all over the world even today and they should be taken care of. Even a United Kingdom is no exception but it is still being a member in the EU.

So while reporting any serious social phenomenon like this, please try at least to keep your national and racial prejudice away! Maybe Bulgaria is no occasional choice?

Flourishing India
By jean_claud_ostwald, 19:33

Each country has its unique charm which could be due to its nature, its people, its culture, etc. But there are some countries that have much from everything and India is one of those. It's a unique mixture of different cultures & wisdom and everyone lives in a full harmony there. Even a European Union is striving to resemble the cultural mixture of what India has been since centuries.

In my view, India is to be the next super power in the world. It showed the rest of the world that a society doesn't have to be concentrated on consumption in order to be a global power. Money does not always matter. And misery does not exclude democracy. Actually, this amazing country proved that it can cope with those issues by not providing a full support to the Americans. Most of the people of India enjoy their full human rights.

But India can be a guide to another superpower of the world - namely the EU because the presence of 800 different cultures has never caused any major rebellions, racial wars, prejudice and silly cartoons in the media. In opposite, during the last Celebrity earlier this year, this society showed the rest of the world that it could be united and there is a civil society there. The conclusion is that a current India is our most important book for the future.

Mariah Carey - Glitter and Sometimes Some Star Dust
By jean_claud_ostwald, 22:47

Celebrities could be divided into two major groups - those who are talented and skilled and those who make a great show. Sometimes, there are, however, very few exceptions - you could be both. And Mariah Carey is the maybe the best example. If I am asked for the best female singer ever I would undoubtedly tell her name. I have never heard a voice which is second to hers. Her songs are unique and being liked all over the world. In the meantime, she looks great and marvelous - both her face and body, as well her charismatic appearance. Mariah is definetly  a girl, born for the scene.

I have been Mariah's fan since long, as I was amazed by her charm, look, vocal abilities but most importantly by her magic appearance. There are not so many performers who are worth such an exclamation. Her difficult and poor childhood made her what she is like today. As a teenager Mariah encountered a racial discrimination and she knows what an outsider is. Probably that suffering made her earn such a worldwide success and fame, but it's not only that. Despite her glory and money, she is an ambassador of the good.

As regards her clinical hospitalisation, I am totally sorry for her. She does not deserve that suffering for everything good and bad she has done. Anyway, I hope that this was the time when took into account what real things in life are and that she should never stop enjoying her fans. From all over the world.

MTV EMA 2007 - The Undeserved Awards (Part I)
By jean_claud_ostwald, 13:10

Disappointed for a first time ... This is what describes my attitude towards last MTV EMA edition, which took place in the charming city of Munich, Germany.

So far, I have always thought that the European Music Awards have always been more objective and justified in comparison with their American counterparts. Unfortunately, I can't say that for the EMA 2007.

Below you can find the most discriminated from MTV EMA 2007:

The pictures are from Internet, their authors are unknown.

mmm voyage voyage
By jean_claud_ostwald, 22:54

Kate Ryan is a good start for my first blog ever. She has recently released a cover version of the well-known French song "Voyage, voyage" and in my view, she's done it even better than the original.

So, what is behind that natural beauty of blond hairs and blue eyes?

Katrien Verbeeck was born in the small village of Tesenderlo, Belgium to Dutch parents. During her childhood she showed a great interest music and arts. Her aunt who was a famous conservatory professor in Belgium taught her vocal technics and piano. Later she studied at a jewelry arts school. The young Katrien has performed at some clubs after leaving village. She was ambitious and hard-working so one day she was approached by a manager who offered her to become a part of a pop-group, called Melt. The future star of Belgium was still 16 at that time. Nevertheless, the success and the international glory came in 2001 after she made a cover of Mylene Farmer's "Desenchantee", which was a hit on various European pop music charts. It was followed by "Different", "Scream For More", "Libertee", etc. She is known since then as Kate Ryan.

Unfortunately, last year Kate was bitterly slapped on the Eurovision Song Contest by the early elimination on the semi-final. Among all of the artists, her name was one of the very few who enjoyed any European popularity, anyway the European fans decided to send artists like Carolina (Sweden), Lordi (Finland) and many more to the final.

Ms. Ryan is currently promoting her new single "Voyage, Voyage" which is another cover version of Desireless. She has also promised to release a new album in early 2008. We wish her a lot of success and may she stake on authentic and melodic songs this time in order for her to highlight her own identity and talent. Because the audience does want to have more the singer Kate Ryan than the beautiful Katrien Verbeeck.
